Lily Forehand, right, is the 2015 valedictorian of the graduating class at Mound City R-2. Lily received her trophy and chord from Superintendent Ken Eaton, left, during the commencement exercises on Sunday, May 17, in the gymnasium of the school in Mound City. Lily is the daughter of Karl and Laura Forehand.

Cody Schniedermeyer, a 2015 graduate of Nodaway-Holt R-VII was named the valedictorian of the class at the graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 10, in Graham, MO. Cody is the son of Steve and Sherry Schniedermeyer of Skidmore, MO.

The junior class from Nodaway-Holt R-7 that attended the Junior/Senior Prom are pictured above, front row, left to right, Frankie Lemar, Kennedy Sportsman, Sam Shipps, Ashley Brashears and Cassidy Saxton; second row, left to right, Jordan Long, Kendal Lance, Savanna Poppa and Kristen Keith; and back row, left to right, Brandon Newton, Cory Rosenbohm, Nali Tattersall and D.J. Walker. The juniors, seniors, dates and faculty traveled the short distance to Countryside Bistro near Graham, MO, for dinner and dancing before returning to the school for an After Prom party.

Mound City R-2 Junior/Senior prom was held on Saturday, April 11, in St. Joseph, MO. Pictured above, Grace Newcomb, left, and Miles Loucks, right, were crowned 2015 Prom Queen and King. “Under the Sea” was the theme for the festive evening. After prom activities were held at Sky Zone in Kansas City, KS.

On Wednesday, March 11, the Mound City R-2 gymnasium was transformed into a walk through history. From the French Revolution to the Civil Rights movement, from the Civil War to the Modern Olympics, the 85 students of middle school social studies teacher Ryan Osburn (pictured above as the “Father of our country,” George Washington) stepped into character for the large crowd roaming throughout the gym. After six weeks of research, each character came alive with stories and facts about themselves.
